In a strange ritual where exertion and indulgence coexist, CAKE transforms the body into a battleground.
Through the bizarre routine of eating a multitiered cake while performing a high-intensity workout, the piece challenges normative ideals, revealing how the body is shaped, objectified, and transformed. Oscillating between collapse and euphoria, it humorously interrogates beauty standards and desirability economies, exposing the absurdity of our expectations.
At once violent and ridiculous, CAKE offers a reflection on the social structures beneath self-fashioning, queerness, and the performance of transformation. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
