Join Fat Fables for a nourishing one-day workshop by and for Fat 2SLGBTQIA+ folks (18+). Together, we’ll build connections, dream up new fat inclusive worlds, and write new creative pieces! We invite fat queer and trans folks of all ages and experiences to join. The workshop will be followed by a community meal together!

This one day Fat Fables workshop will offer participants a place to connect with other Fat Queer and Trans folks, dream up new fat worlds, write and create in small groups and plant the seeds for future creation. Together we will world build, read and respond to other Fat Queer and Trans writers, share writing with each other and learn about Fat Fables program and production. We invite Fat 2SLGBTQIA+ participants of all ages over 18 to join us. The workshop will be followed by a community meal together!

Fat Fables was created in 2019 by Morgan Davis and Jules Vodarek Hunter to create space and build community with other Fat 2SLGBTQIA+ artists. The AMY Project has showcased work at SummerWorks since 2012. This will be the tenth year of partnering with SummerWorks Performance Festival.

This year’s Festival theme, Fight | Flight brings forward urgent creative responses to this troubling moment in time. Across the 2026 Festival, artists root themselves in place, community, ancestry, and practice, while also shifting perspectives, rewriting histories, and creating new narratives through the body, exploring memory, consent, transformation, and identity, through resistance, humour, and intimacy.
