Continuing the exciting partnership between Dance Arts Institute and SummerWorks, experience four new works from emerging choreographers presented as an indoor/outdoor ambulatory experience through Toronto’s Cabbagetown neighbourhood.

The Running Project – by Ranganathan Rajan
This solo works with squats, lunges, and leans. The performer impacts space through a working resistance within the body and with the ground, like a master with his tools. The work exposes/experiences the labour to sustain the integrity of the body in the slow violent conditions of the world.

Recognize This, Remember That – by Harper Drzymala-Bokitch
This is a recounting of moments, physicalized. In merging vulnerability with confrontation, my intention is to provoke self-reflection in the viewers of this work. When witnessing this journey and observing the demanding act of perseverance, I encourage you to remain curious about your immediate response. What does it evoke in you? What does it make you want to do?

Three + MeMeMeMeMe – by Minuet Charron
This work evolved from a thought about the power of three in relation to oneself.
Me, myself and I.
The mind, body, and spirit.
This then transformed into a piece about You!
You are invited to a party between space and time, let’s see who You meet there…

In The Grip Of Us – by Mackenzie Richardson
This work aims to disorient and activate the performance atmosphere with an eerie quality. This work explores a world full of turbulent movement where fragmented gestures and erratic rhythms evoke a deep sense of unsettledness.

Choreographers: Minuet Charron, Harper Drzymala-Bokitch, Ranganathan Rajan & Mackenzie Richardson
Dancers: Jenny Aplin, Osvaldo Barreda “Ova” Buschmann, Rayna Bilous, Chloe Dominique, Joel Lawrence, Roman Puccia, Mackenzie Richardson, Surej Surendra & Rohee Uberoi

An iteration of this project was first presented in April 2025 at the Choreographic Workshop showing by the Dance Arts Institute Canada.
