“The most surprising delight of the evening, FreeSteps – NiNi.” – DanceTabs

“You are almost sad when you have to return to your everyday life and this meditative moment is over.” – Access to Dance

Developed by choreographer Wei-Chia Su over a decade, the FreeSteps project, initiated in 2013, is a body method and philosophy exploring the dynamic interplay of contours, forms, movements, trajectories, and characteristics of the dancing body. Pursuing a pure physical language, the project develops a diverse vocabulary through dedicated physical exploration.

FreeSteps NiNi, which premiered at the 2019 Taiwan International Festival of Arts, notably brought this exploration outside traditional theaters. This performer-centric and crowd-friendly solo work embraced its surroundings – light, landscape, and passersby – as vital creative forces.

Since 2019, it has also been presented in Bratislava, New York, Darmstadt, Munich, among other beautiful cities and sceneries. These varied settings highlight the project’s adaptability, allowing the dance to resonate distinctly and foster unique public engagement.

FreeSteps NiNi is presented in alignment with FreeSteps – Grand Canyon.
