Hosted by CanAsian Dance, Dance Talks brings together a group of Asian diaspora dance artists to engage in a more in-depth conversation about critical and artistic questions and themes with one another, while the public participates as active listeners, with the opportunity to contribute to the conversation at the halfway point.  Each conversation offers a relaxed setting that promotes conversation over lecture. The Fishbowl conversations inspire the format of these conversations.

This conversation features eight (8) dance artists from Confluence: Creative Exchange Project (Hong Kong/Canada):

  • Joseph Lee
  • Paula Wong
  • Chan Wai Lok
  • Cheung Wai Yin
  • Jasmine Liaw
  • Mohammad Dreza
  • Victor Tran
  • Simran Sachar

The Hong Kong artists are supported through our partner, Unlock Dancing Plaza, with generous funding from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.

The Canadian artists are supported by our project partners, CanAsian Dance, The Dance Centre, Morrow, Studio 303, Tangente, and Toronto Dance Theatre, with generous funding from The CanDance Network.

This year’s Festival theme, Fight | Flight brings forward urgent creative responses to this troubling moment in time. Across the 2026 Festival, artists root themselves in place, community, ancestry, and practice, while also shifting perspectives, rewriting histories, and creating new narratives through the body, exploring memory, consent, transformation, and identity, through resistance, humour, and intimacy.
