Come visit the Sur-veil Salon for all your covert needs! Don’t let lightning-speed algorithms, bloated police budgets, and criminalized dissent get you down – our expert stylists are dedicated to equipping you with the latest in privacy fashion to evade and trick even the most pesky facial recognition technologies.
Once we are undetectable and fabulous, we’ll head out for an urban stroll in the surrounding neighborhood, stopping at invasive landmarks to imagine and reflect on how we keep us safe, and what surveillance might mean for futures of identity, public connection, collective care and safety.
This workshop is open to all – citizen scientists, artists, designers, and futurists – who are interested in embodied learning and collective world-building. The outcomes of this workshop will be used to inform the development process of an upcoming immersive theatre production.
Audience Experience:
Audience members meet indoors at Theatre Passe Muraille for the start of the experience. The artist will invite the audience to wear articles of clothing, face coverings or makeup. This performative experience will move outdoors, along sidewalks in the surrounding neighbourhood, led by the artist.
