How can the future of food be inspired by the past?

TERRAFORM is a performance-installation + nosh activation that explores the methods and practices of preservation that allow food to transform into something new, different, even peculiar. Re-imagining these ancient preservation methods, you are guided through a nosh activation of fermented and pickled foods that center on the theme of transformation.

Fermentation and pickling is an alchemy that wields time into matter. These methods have been employed for thousands of years to help cure, stabilize and regulate our internal biomes. Like the act of terraformation, they use atmosphere, temperature, topography and ecology to create. Inspired by these ancient traditions and the anticipation of what our future environment will be, artist-scholar and vegan chef Aisha Lesley Bentham re-imagines the ways we preserve our food as microbial futures. Through a blend of tactile, olfactory and gastronomic forms, you are asked to allow the terraformation to happen within you.

All food is vegan, of course!
