Title: Producer (2 positions available)

Start Date: May 9, 2022

End Date: September 2, 2022

Fee: $10,000 CAD

Engagement Conditions: Contract part-time (approximately 20 hours per week), with full-time hours (up to 40 hours per week) mid-July to the end of August.


ROLE OVERVIEW

Producers at SummerWorks are responsible for the planning and delivery of artistic programming, including, but not limited to performances and events in theatres, galleries, parks, city streets, and on digital platforms. Each producer is responsible for 10-15 projects, depending on the shape of the final programming and geography of the Festival. They work closely with artists and community partners and collaborate with all departments of the SummerWorks team to ensure the smooth, safe, and successful delivery of programming for artists and audiences.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans and executes SummerWorks projects in collaboration with artists, partners and the SummerWorks team, with particular attention to timeline, budgetary, artistic, audience engagement, and accessibility goals.
  • Liaises with artists and artistic partners on behalf of the SummerWorks team, ensuring necessary information is collected and shared. 
  • Initiates and maintains community partnerships related to the development and delivery of specific projects.
  • Accesses professional development interests and needs of participating artists; and makes plans and recommendations as required.
  • Contributes to outreach and hiring related to artistic specific roles. 
  • Coordinates community engagement and audience engagement activities for specific projects, including, but not limited to Q&As, workshops, and long table discussions. 
  • Contributes to the development of marketing and outreach strategy for programming, as required. 
  • Prepares and executes artist and partner contracts, as required. 
  • Attends rehearsals and provides feedback as required. 
  • Contributes to Festival and venue post-mortems. 
  • Develops & manages project budgets, and completes all reconciliations related to petty cash as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of producing experience in a Festival or event capacity.
  • Experience planning and executing complex live events. 
  • Experience managing large teams.
  • A passion for the performing arts.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • The ability to quickly start projects and form relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite or equivalent.
