There will be a designated member of our team working as a Safety Officer for all ticketed events. This person is in charge of ensuring the safety of all audience members and artists, enforcing distancing and other safety guidelines. This person will ask anyone not in compliance with our safety protocols to leave the performance location.
Some artists and projects will continue to be delivered through online platforms that you can access from any computer or smartphone. Below is some information about how to use some of the more common platforms being used by SummerWorks artists.
Zoom is a video conferencing service that has emerged as an omnipresent spectre in our lives during this time of social distancing. It is also a useful tool for replicating live performance experiences to be enjoyed from your home computer.
There are desktop and mobile applications available for download on the Zoom website, but you do not need to download or install any software to experience a performance or event on Zoom – all you need is the web link, which we will provide to you when you register for the event.
We generally recommend using a desktop or laptop computer so that you can view multiple performers at the same time. It is also recommended to have either a hard-wired internet connection or strong wifi.
If using Zoom to experience an interactive performance where you may be speaking, we ask that you wear headphones if possible.
For projects taking place via a phone call, the phone service we tend to use will show up on some phones as an unlisted number. If you have settings on your phone blocking unlisted calls, please ensure these are off during your time slot.
Instagram Live is a common livestreaming platform used by artists to share shorter works from their mobile phones. You can watch live videos on the Instagram app for iPhone or Android or on Instagram.com with a laptop or desktop computer, but you will need an instagram account to watch.
Instagram live is also compatible with Chromecast if you prefer to watch these videos on your television.
