Trophy is an ongoing project that asks: how have you changed? It’s an interactive performance and art installation built around stories of transformation. Inside each tent is a person who tells a true story of a turning point in their life. Audience members circulate through the tents, transforming the tents over the course of the performances into multi-coloured translucent structures, covered in new stories. Between performances, people can walk through and experience it as an installation – sharing stories or watching the evolution at a distance. How its lifespan evolves depends on you. One day only!
Directed and Produced by Sarah Conn; Created by Sarah Conn and Allison O’Connor; Designed by Allison O’Connor; Graphic Design and Event Support by Veronique Claude; Performed by Alix Sideris, Alex Tigchelaar, Monica Garrido, and Sarah Joy Bennett.
"For one day only, SummerWorks will host Trophy created by Ottawa artists Sarah Conn and Allison O’Connor from the award-winning Sto Union. Sarah delighted audiences at SummerWorks two years ago with Recess, a giant version of the children’s game Fortune Teller, while also producing Sto Union’s 7 Important Things. In Trophy, an intimate audience of five will journey together through five tents, listening to stories of personal transformation, then being given the opportunity to transform the installation themselves. Trophy was a huge success during Ottawa’s Nuit Blanche and most recently at In The Soil Festival." - Cathy Gordon
