We have danced in basements, in churches, in gymnasiums, in bars, in studios, and on stages. We have moved in so many different ways with so many different people, and our bodies hold the traces of it all. Sometimes the memories surface easily. Sometimes we have to dig. This performance celebrates the digging.
Memory Palace was created by Dorian Nuskind-Oder, Lauren Semeschuk, Melina Stinson, and Nathan Yaffe. For almost two years, we have mined our individual movement memories in order to create a dance that we can all share together. Join us as we celebrate the collective labor and collective joy of dance.
Choreography and Direction by Dorian Nuskind-Oder; Choreography and Performance by Lauren Semeschuk, Melina Stinson, and Nathan Yaffe; Sound Design by Simon Grenier-Poirier; Original Lighting and Set Design by Paul Chambers; Dramaturgical Support by Jacob Wren.
"Memory Palace explores body memory, body intelligence, and subjectivity, while also looking at the medium of dance and performance itself. Performers work in front of us to mine, to remember, to create, together. Individually and collectively, the performers task the body, brain, and personal experience to meet through the physical and mental rigor of this work." - Jenn Goodwin
