A new dance work by Valerie Calam/Company Vice Versa in collaboration with Luke Garwood, Amanda Davis, Christianne Ullmark, Kate Franklin, Brendan Jensen, and Joseph Paul Shepherd.
Using a method we call states of the body, we access a physical vocabulary that is in-the-performative-moment. Always working on something as opposed to demonstrating something, we expose concepts and narratives that fuel the imagination and (potential) transformation of viewer and performer. This takes work on both ends, but the work of it, is it. For 40 minutes, we attempt to keep the choreographic structure permeable and mesh-like in order for everyone to move in and out freely. We are curious about working with the audience as energy, and using this energy to calibrate a ‘give and take’ in the moment and constantly cycle between self, group, and others.

Created by Valerie Calam/Company Vice Versa; Performed by Luke Garwood, Amanda Davis, Christianne Ullmark and Kate Franklin; Music by Joseph Paul Shepherd/Cult Eyes; Artistic Advising by Brendan Jensen; Costume Design by Valerie Calam and Mairi Grieg.
"Working the subtleties inside Dull Roar, Calam creates space for the performers to get taken away - to go deeper, further, beyond the task at hand. How far can you get taken away with them? Like listening to a piece of music we get lost in, allow yourself to be submersed and guided by the states of being in front of you. Let your mind move in and out of this porous dance drone." - Jenn Goodwin
